Welcome to Performance Pilates

Targeted training for any age

Mobility, balance and functional strength are key for a healthy lifestyle, preventing injury and maintaining quality of life as we get older. Consistent, targeted exercise can also reduce your fall risk and reduce the progression of arthritis.

At Performance Pilates & Physiotherapy, we offer small group, physiotherapist-supervised Mobility and Balance classes in Leederville to support your independence.

Movement and exercise therapy is used for rehab and “prehab.” It is also useful in preventing inefficient or faulty movement habits that cause neck and back pain, poor posture, or musculoskeletal injury.

We assist our clients of varying ages and abilities (physical and functional) to manage pain, prevent or recover from injury, and establish an active lifestyle—all promoting good health and well-being.

Why Balance Matters

Prevent Injury and Reduce Fall Risk

Good Mobility and Balance helps prevent injury, improve functional strength and endurance and reduce the risk of falls while making your daily activities easier to perform.

Improve Mobility and Functional Strength

The targeted exercises in our Mobility and Balance classes help improve functional strength through a full range of motion while reducing pain from joint stiffness or compression.

Maintain Quality of Life and Independence

Balance is a skill that if we challenge as we age, will keep us independent and active, doing the things we enjoy the most while promoting our sense of well-being.

Building Your Treatment Plan

Enjoy a personalised program

1

Join our Mobility & Balance Classes

Our physiotherapist will assess you and collect data on your current functional ability. Your first few mobility and balance classes in Leederville will focus on neuromuscular re-education, learning to exercise with optimal form to help you get the most out of your small group sessions.

2

Our Group Classes

Our physiotherapist-supervised group classes offer a boutique experience with a maximum of 6 participants.  During each session, you’ll work with your physio who will progress your programme as appropriate.

We also offer semi-private or 1 on 1 exercise rehab sessions if you’d like more tailored instruction.

3

Enjoy confidence and independence

While most of our clients commence with targeted rehab-based exercises with a physiotherapist, the goal is to progress to group functional training, such as our Mobility and Balance classes.

Ongoing participation can give you the confidence to continue doing the things you enjoy the most, keep you fit and independent and improve your overall quality of life.

How to Prepare

What to Bring

There are a few things to keep in mind (and on hand) when joining us for balance classes in Leederville.

A TOWEL, CLEAN GRIP SOCKS AND WATER BOTTLE

For your comfort and hygiene and in consideration of other clientele, please wear clean grip socks and bring a towel to each exercise session. Staying hydrated is essential for any workout so a water bottle is recommended.  Grip socks are available for purchase at the studio

Comfortable, movement-appropriate clothing

Wear clothes that allow you to move freely, such as exercise wear, leggings and shorts.  Business attire, belts and jeans would not allow sufficient mobility to participate.

A Positive Mindset

The Mobility and Balance programme is designed to be safe and effective, supervised by experienced physiotherapists who will prescribe intentional challenges when it is appropriate for you to progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I notice improvements?

It takes time for your body to adjust and the neuro-muscular improvements to develop. Typically, most clients will see their most noticeable improvements within 12 weeks of starting their Mobility and Balance classes in Leederville.

How many classes should I take?

We typically recommend participating in 2 to 3 classes per week. We offer a variety of classes and packages to optimise your wellness while keeping it affordable.

Can I attend a Mobility and Balance class alongside other exercise programmes?

Absolutely! Mobility and balance classes are excellent for supplementing an ongoing exercise program.  Our physiotherapist can discuss your particular situation and functional goals with you to collaborate and tailor a suitable plan.
